Australia doesn’t have enough houses.

But there’s a hidden capacity in the market which, in theory, could help solve that problem.

Accessing it isn’t easy though — and understanding why raises difficult questions about how to ease the current crisis, and how a similar dilemma might be avoided in the future.

Because it’s locked up in spare bedrooms — maybe even in your own home.
